The regular monthly meeting of the Dare County Board of Education, scheduled for Monday, September 21, 2026, will begin at 4:45 p.m., instead of 5:00 p.m. as originally scheduled.
The meeting will be held at the Dare County Administration Building in Manteo, NC, and will be streamed live the Dare County Schools website.

August Day of Action - Southern Shores & Duck
The Dare County Democratic Party today announced its upcoming August Day of Action scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2026. The major grassroots mobilization effort features three distinct neighborhood canvasses structured to reach voters directly in their communities across Dare County, signaling the official start of the party’s critical fall push toward the November election.
Every election cycle carries claims of being "the most important election of our lives," but with pivotal contests ranging from top-of-the-ticket statewide seats to crucial local representation, 2026 represents a landmark moment for North Carolina voters. The conversations had today will directly determine what happens in November.
Volunteers will hit the pavement across the Outer Banks to build momentum for an outstanding Democratic team, including:

Anita Earls
Don Davis
Melissa Zehner
Miriam Rollin
Judicial Candidates
Local Democratic Candidates
"The road to victory in November starts right now. Elections aren't won on Election Day—they're won by the work we do in August, September, and October," said Susan Sawin, Chair the Dare County Democratic Party. "Every conversation matters. Every door we knock brings us one step closer to electing leaders who will fight for our values."
Whether volunteers have canvassed a hundred times or are stepping out for their very first door, full support will be provided—including training, materials, and pairing with experienced volunteers.
