The People’s Hearing: Work and Wages

We hope you’ll join us virtually for The People’s Hearing: Work and Wages on Wednesday, Sept. 2, at 6:30 p.m.

Register for The People's Hearing

This timely event, co-hosted by the NC Budget & Tax Center, NC AFL-CIO, NC Justice Center, and United for a Fair Economy, will begin with a briefing from the NC Budget & Tax Center on the current state of working North Carolina and the role of state budget and tax policy in supporting work and wages in NC.

We’ll hear testimony from people across the state who are working to get ahead and afford the basics despite the barriers and lack of state investment in supports to work. A school bus driver, a child care educator, a researcher from Oxfam, and more will share how public policy has failed to make life more affordable and ensure work pays.

As the state and country get ready to celebrate Labor Day, join us to learn more about the decisions that will shape the future of work, wages, and well-being in our state. The People’s Hearing is an opportunity to connect decisions about the state budget, wage standards, and working conditions to the well-being of people and our economy.

Participants will leave with a fresh perspective, new connections, and concrete ways to engage in the state budget and tax policy decisions that shape working experiences across the state.

We hope you’ll join us — and please share this invitation with your networks.

In solidarity,

Alex Campbell and the NC Budget & Tax Center team
