Nags Head Precinct Gets Board of Elections Updates

At the Aug 16, 2026 Nags Head Precinct Meeting, Karen Blose, Dare County Board of Elections, provided important information:

The NC State Board has issued some new rules that may affect procedures in future elections for reviewing absentee ballots, but not yet adopted by the Legislature.

  • Dare County Board of Elections works well across party lines to provide safe and secure elections and to get every qualified vote counted.

  • Currently the Executive Order about the delivery of mail in ballots has been ordered by a court to not proceed but is still subject to appeal. If the injunction is overturned, we believe mail in ballots in NC will be delivered by USPS because the State complied with the Executive Order and sent the requested information for a national voter list. 

  • Early voting opens October 15, 2026 at the same 3 locations as we had previously used, 8:00 am to 7:30 pm Monday through Friday and on Saturday October 31, 8:00 am to 3 pm.
